In 1999, Neuvic has 1850 inhabitants. The city is counting on tourism and is proud of its gorgeous lake, which attracts the attention of many foreigners every year.

Brand new installations were built, like the gites of Ursanges or the houses of the municipal camping site.

The district planning authority ("La Communauté de Communes des Gorges de la Haute Dordogne" or "GHD") includes eight boroughs of Neuvic's district and two boroughs of Lapleau's district. It was created in 2002. It was given many competencies which allow it to develop and lay out the space.
