In the village of Marèges, you will find the electrical station of La Môle where many high voltage lines are converging. It is one of the most important in France. Down below, are standing the dam of Marèges and its factory.
During the Middle Ages, the castle of Marèges was used as a defensive tool, to keep an eye on the gorges of the river Dordogne. At the Renaissance, it became a pleasure castle.
The Puy de Manzagol is 693 meters at its highest point. It offers a very nice view from Neuvic's lake. We also find informations about the typical landscape of the region. Originally this was a volcano formed during the Tertiary era after a basalt rise. It stopped functionning 7 or 8 millions of years ago. In the past, it was possible to see it 50 miles around !
The waterfall of Juillac is not very well-known but it is a magnificent place. It is a waterfall of 20 meters high, which is going into the river Dordogne. But to see it, you have to deserve it ! You have to take your hiking boots in order to cross the forest and go down the slopes. If you are curious, you will also read many informative boards about the different tree species present in this forest. The Roc Grand is a magnificent viewpoint overlooking the river Dordogne from which you can see the castle of Anglard, situated in Sainte-Marie Lapanouze.
