The oldest dam of the department

The works started in 1928 but with many difficulties because the building site was flooded several times ! Moreover, the means were very basics. As an example, the workers were using mules to carry the materials.

In 1935, it is the first dam to be filled, in order to supply the railway Paris-Orléans with electricity.

This dam is the first of the six steps present on the Dordogne's "hydroelectric stairs". It is not owned by EDF (Electricité de France) but has a private landlord
