The castle of the Mialaret

« Mialaret » means "field of apple trees", from the latin word « melaretum »

The history

The castle of the Mialaret is dating from the XIV° century and belonged successively to the families of Chastanier, De Plaigne and Calary. The current entrance door of the castle, decorated with a badge, seems to be of origin (Renaissance period). The original residence was destroyed and replaced in 1893 by a castle. Jean De Lattre deTassign stayed there, as well as the photographer Robert Doisneau. The castle was occupied by the maquis during the Second World War. Then the property was owned by several persons and underwent many modifications in order to become a holiday site. Since 2001, it belongs to a Dutch family.

Today

The property of 110 acres consists of the castle, a campsite, some chalets and bungalows. The domain is well shaded and has two ponds. You will also find sports equipments with a wonderful swimming pool, a tennis court, football and volleyball pitches. The forest is an ideal site for walks or mountain bike rides.
